I love Sunday dinners during farmers market season

I love Sunday dinners during farmers market season and today did not disappoint! Sweet potato plant-based pasta tossed with local garlic scapes, onions, local kale, cannellini beans, and local tomatoes, with local olive sourdough bread on the side and a salad of local greens and homemade vinaigrette.
Hope everyone out there had a moment to savor today and praying for some much needed rain tomorrow!

It's a scorcher out there today. One way to stay cool and still eat healthy is with a chilled soup like gazpacho!
I just finished up making a double batch of this Watermelon Gazpacho, which will chill in the fridge until dinner tonight.
It's packed full of summertime goodness...watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and basil.
I love that I don't have to heat up the kitchen on a hot day PLUS dinner prep is out of the way and it's not even lunch time! Win!

I had the privilege of cooking for a very special

I had the privilege of cooking for a very special dinner party last weekend to celebrate the 18th anniversary of two dear friends. 💚💚
As with all of my cooking and especially my dinner parties, the menu was farm-to-table and custom built to highlight the anniversary couple. This farm-to-table style of cooking is a lot of work - paying attention to what is in season right now, contacting local farmers and businesses to check on availability and preorder ingredients, adjusting recipes based on what is unexpectedly out of stock, running around on the morning of the dinner to collect all of these fresh and local ingredients, making more last minute adjustments based on more unexpected changes to ingredients, and then finally showing up at the client's home to prepare the food - BUT it is also totally worth the time and effort that goes into it to be able to support the local food system, share the bounty with others, and eat the freshest meal in town :)
This dinner was a long time coming and was so much fun to prepare for and enjoy together with friends. Thank you and Happy Anniversary! @josiyogi

Whew, this summer heat wave is no joke! I hope everyone is staying cool and staying hydrated!
In case you are in the mood to make a summer recipe (what to do with all that zucchini?!), I just added two new recipes to my website. We have made each of these within the past week - one for a pot luck picnic and one for a family dinner. Both were a hit!
1. Zucchini-Pesto Risotto
2. Quinoa and Veggie Panzanella Salad
What is your favorite summer recipe to bring to a picnic? I usually go with the panzanella salad or a pasta salad, both with whatever fresh veggies that I have on hand that week. But I'm always looking for new recipes to try ☺️

Kamut pasta with a wild mushroom sauce for dinner tonight. I love that we are lucky enough to have a mushroom vendor at @thesauconvalleyfarmersmarket . They are such a wonderful addition to our dinners and I try to incorporate mushrooms into at least one dish each week when I do our recipe planning.
@mainlymushrooms Chris, I'm sorry that we didn't actually have you over for dinner tonight but I do appreciate the lovely morel mushrooms and more that you shared with us! Thank you!

I harvested the last of our rhubarb this past week

I harvested the last of our rhubarb this past week and finally got around to trying out the Rhubarb Custard Pie recipe that my husband's grandmother used to make. Yummmm :-)
